Description

After a while of sketching, I finished it!
Well...this turned out different than I planned in the beginning. I actually wanted to do it in the black-and-white-comic-inking-style-thing like in the sketch (sta.sh/0drsjwbumed), but I guess I was a bit afraid of this style. Anyway, I worked with different shades.
I decided to add something dragon-like in the foreground, and (although I'm still not quite sure if it bothers me or not) the black circle in the corner, as a symbol of the moon turning black and sick/solar eclipse. I also made the white figures bigger to work with more details...but on the photo it seems a bit strange.
Edit: Because I guess the question will come again, the thing in his hand is supposed to be the Arkenstone, bleeding as a symbol of Thorin starting a war for it and the gold, forgetting his fellows. (like a torn out heart)
Ink, ink pen and a white ink pen, black frame added in Photoshop

Wow, this is a thoughtful work of art. I recognized the stone in his hand to be the Arkenstone but still appreciated your description. Very clever. The dragon popping up in the gold is very cool. Overall, in my opinion, you've created quite the fascinating but unsettling artwork. Really well done.

By the way, I'm not sure if you made a post about this somewhere that I missed but I just discovered your Youtube Page! You did a great job with recording the process, the changing of the light was not distracting. Thanks for sharing!

Now for my questions. What's the measurement of this piece? Also, simply because I just came from your Lady of Rohan picture, did you originally intend to paint this with coffee? Or did you have another project in mind for that medium?
